After singing ‘Happy Birthday’ up to 15 times a day, our poor hands are not feeling so happy.

Our water supply - which can be very hard in some areas, repeated washing and chemicals in our cleaning products can all cause our hands to become very dry. Add to this all the hand sanitiser we are using entering supermarkets, pharmacies and our places of work and we have a very dry, cracked, sore red hands.

We need to keep doing this for all our health but consider nourishing your hands with soothing natural ingredients rather than artificial petroleum-based ingredients that will dry your hands further.

Suvex Soothe is a natural intensive emollient cream made from plant sourced ingredients. Its replenishing properties have a deep moisturising effect and help to relieve dry, red and itchy skin in three ways. It soothes; natural plant compounds actively calm redness and itchiness associated with dry skin. Secondly it moisturises due to a unique combination of naturally occurring essential fatty acids, polyphenols and polysaccharides, which combine to retain water within the skin. Finally, it protects by forming a natural protective coating on the skin to defend against everyday irritants.

We need to look for soothing ingredients such as:

> Cupuacu butter is a natural skin emollient and known for its high capacity to absorb water to help hydrate the skin. Highly beneficial for dry and damaged skin, promoting deep, long lasting hydration.

> Shea butter has been shown in a clinical evaluation to be greater benefit than a petrolatum-based emollient when both were applied twice daily. It contains Vitamins A and E, and has demonstrated both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.

> Olive extract is highly moisturising and penetrates quickly through to the epithelial skin.

> Rosehip oil contains a natural derivative of Vitamin A and essential fatty acids, both help to produce an effective regenerative action of the skin. It also rehydrates the skin penetrating the skin almost instantly to restore moisture balance.

> Rice Bran Oil is rich in Vitamin E, and which stimulates healing and naturally moisturising proteins.

> Aloe Vera contains many minerals and vitamins which soothe the skin. It encourages healthy skin growth, and it also acts as a protective barrier from constant washing and sometimes not dying our hands properly.

> Brown Kelp helps to maintain the skins pH balance, which can help prevent skin irritation.

> Homeo-Soothe™ is extracted from brown seaweed and reduces inflammatory responses and protects the skin against irritants.

Try and avoid petroleum-based and paraben leaden hand creams and moisturisers as they have a drying effect and sit on skin and ultimately block your pores. The ingredients above will penetrate deeper into the epidermis layers of the skin and feed it and help correct the problem.

Best applied at bedtime when we are not washing our hands again for some time and to allow it to repair. I suggest covering your hands in gloves to allow extra absorption at night time. Also apply 3 times during the day after washing and drying hands.
